Uzbekistan to Build Major Year-Round Mountain Tourism Complex

A large-scale year-round mountain resort will soon rise in Uzbekistan’s Parkent district, offering modern infrastructure of international standards and the capacity to host thousands of tourists throughout the year.

As Uzbekistan continues its transformation into a key tourism hub in Central Asia, the country is expanding its infrastructure with not only small projects, but also major strategic developments. One such flagship initiative is the creation of a world-class tourism complex on the slopes of Oltin Bel Mountain in the Parkent district of the Tashkent region, according to the Presidential Press Service.

Currently, a smaller hotel complex operates on the mountainside, covering only 3 hectares and accommodating up to 188 guests. In contrast, the new resort will span 1,200 hectares and feature a wide range of attractions — from ski trails, cable cars, and 3–5 star hotels to chalets, recreation areas, restaurants, and wellness centers.

The project will be carried out in three phases with the participation of international investors, including an Austrian company specializing in alpine infrastructure development.

Once fully completed, the resort is expected to accommodate up to 15,000 visitors per day, supported by around 600 service facilities, both permanent and seasonal.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the site to review the progress of the project, discuss improvements, and identify ways to broaden the resort’s offerings and accelerate construction timelines.

By the end of this year alone, Uzbekistan plans to implement 52 tourism-related projects in the Tashkent region, with a total investment of $1.8 billion, enabling the area to welcome up to 1 million tourists annually.
